View from the Peak District
With the Peak District on the doorstep there is always something to see, do and explore for the outdoor enthusiast and, for those feeling energetic, a walk up the famous Kinder Scout will provide ample reward.
The Peak District also has unrivalled underground treats. The Castleton Caverns comprise Blue John, Treak Cliff, Speedwell and the great Peak Cavern, just outside Castleton village.
Derbyshire also has more than its fair share of stately homes with Lyme Park (featured in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice), Haddon Hall (featured in the recent cinema blockbuster Pride and Prejudice) and the magnificent Chatsworth House.
The major shopping centres of Manchester and Stockport are within easy reach by car or bus and train services. Buxton, Edale, Castleton, Bakewell and Matlock, are bustling market towns as well as being beautiful centres for hiking and walking.
And, for science buffs, there is Jodrell Bank Science Park with the Lovell Telescope and also the Manchester Aviation Viewing Park at Manchester Airport, where the famous Concorde can be viewed.
